Recreation Leader, Kids Korner

Manassas Park is an independent jurisdiction in Northern Virginia, approximately 30 miles southwest of Washington, DC. The city borders Prince William County and the City of Manassas. The City of Manassas Park, Department of Parks and Recreation is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Recreation Leader for Kids Korner. Recreation Leader will provide program support while adhering to City of Manassas Park employment standards. Work is performed under the general direction and supervision of the Senior Recreation Specialist.

DEFINITION OF POSITION:
The Recreation Leader serves as general recreation programming staff responsible for administration of the day-to-day activities in Kids Korner. The Recreation Leader is responsible for implementing the established plans, policies, goals, and objectives pertaining to the implementation of ongoing recreational program offerings.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Assist in the implementation of recreation programming, under the specific direction of the Senior Recreation Specialist.

Assist in the set up and break down of activities.

Provide classroom/class management.

Perform cleaning duties and organize daily routine materials and supplies. Plan, prepare, and implement activities with children.

Being professional, self-directed, motivated, and possess a creative approach to play and learning.

Experience in parks and recreation programs/classes/courses/instruction.
Ability to interpret and explain parks and recreation policies, rules, and procedures to employees.
Ability to deal effectively with the general public, and employees.
Must demonstrate writing and speaking skills with the ability to establish and maintain appropriate working relationships with elected and appointed officials, other governmental agencies, corporate and other private sector representatives, and members of the general public.
Ability to pass background check

The following are the minimum qualifications to apply:
Previous childcare program experience.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

CPR/First Aid Certified.

Availability to work mornings and occasional weekends.


Hourly Wage: $9.00 - $10.00 DOE
